Abstract
428,265. Aircraft landing - gear. MESSERSCHMITT, W., 118a, Haunstetterstrasse, Augsburg, Germany. Aug. 22, 1934, No. 24248. Convention date, Aug. 23, 1933. [Class 4] [See also Group XXXIV] A cantilever strut carrying a wheel, float or skid is arranged to break under excessive landing shock at a rupturing zone provided where the strut protrudes from the fuselage, wing or nacelle in which it is fixed. The strut c, provided with a shock-absorbing arrangement, is fixed to a conical tube f, forming part of the wing attachment frame of the fuselage, by an intermediate member e in which the rupturing zone is formed. The cross-section of the member e may have the same or different movements of resistance about longitudinal and transverse axes. An additional rupturing zone h may be formed where the stub-axle of the landing wheel d is joined to the strut c to avoid excess stresses in the axial direction of the strut.
