Abstract

427,453. Looms with automatic weftreplenishing mechanism. WURTH, E., Schwenningen-on-Neckar, Wurtemberg, Germany. Sept. 28,1934,No. 27858. Convention date, Oct. 6, 1933. [Classes 142 (i) and 142 (iii)] Relates to shuttle - changing mechanism of the kind in which the full shuttle is introduced through one open side of the shuttle-box and ejects the spent shuttle through the other side. The shuttle 4, Fig. 8, is guided by grooves adapted to engage one or more yielding projections 5 in the bottom of the shuttle-box, while the top of the shuttle-box comprises a spring-pressed pivoted swell 3 provided with a slot 9 for the picking stick or strap. When a fresh shuttle is introduced from the magazine 12, Fig. 4, by the action of the pusher 17 that is connected by a lever 18 to the transferrer, the spent shuttle is forced against the side of a cap-like stop 10 that serves thereby to position the fresh shuttle. The pusher is pivotally mounted and is permitted to fall to a position determined by an adjustable link 19 having a slot connection to a bolt 19<a>. If the shuttle becomes wedged, it forces the magazine 12, Fig. 6, back against the action of a spring 14 into the position shown and actuates a device 21 for stopping the loom.
