Abstract

A product having oligodynamic properties and suitable for use in sterilizing water is produced by macerating cement clinker in an oligodynamic metal salt solution. The clinker comprises calcium aluminate, and calcium silicate with or without calcium ferrite and is preferably employed in granular form, the metals being fixed thereon principally in the hydroxide state and to a smaller degree in the metallic state. Suitable solutions are silver nitrate and copper chloride or nitrate. The product obtained may be used for sterilizing drinking water, bathing pools &c. by filtering the water through layers of the product mixed with sand or other granular material.ALSO:A product having oligodynamic properties and suitable for use in sterilizing water is produced by macerating cement clinker in an oligodynamic metal salt solution.
