Convention date, Oct. 22, 1932. [Class 38 (iii)] A polyphase motor A is started by the sequential closure of switches NS actuated by the rotatable casing of an auxiliary motor H coupled to the main motor, the auxiliary motor being connected to the supply simultaneously with the main motor, and its casing being returned to its normal position by a weight or spring F upon the disconnection of the main motor. The connections of the auxiliary motor are reversed in relation to those of the main motor, and the movement of its casing is limited by a fixed stop. The switches NS are adjustably damped and operate under the control of cams mounted on the casing of the auxiliary motor. After the starter has shortcircuited the starting resistances W, it may lift a brake.
