Abstract

426,026. Railway vehicle bogies. BUCHLI, J., 1, Turnerstrasse, Winterthur, Switzerland. May 7, 1934, No. 13784. Convention date, May 5, 1933. [Class 103 (vi)] The two or more wheels 1 on each side of a railway-vehicle bogie are mounted in separate frames 2, which are connected to the ends of the bolster 7 by joints 5 so as to be capable of pivotal movement both in an horizontal and in a vertical plane, rotational movement of the bolster relative to the vehicle body being prevented by a guide frame 9, Fig. 2, within which the ends of the bolster may move vertically or laterally. In the construction shown in Figs. 1-3, two wheels 1 are mounted in each frame, and the two frames 2 are inter-connected by gauge bars 11 having inserted springs 12 that permit a limited lateral freedom of motion between the frames. Between the body bolster 6 and the bogie bolster 7 are arranged a number of helical supporting springs 8, and, if desired, oscillation dampers. The joints 5 are preferably disposed within dust-tight casings 10 filled with oil. In a modification, four wheels are arranged on each side of the bogie, grouped in pairs, and each pair is carried in a small auxiliary frame pivotally and resiliently mounted in the frame 2. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 also described a modification in which the frames 2 are inclined inwardly. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
