[Class 80 (i)] [See also Group XXX] A driving or conveyer belt comprises a metal band 1 and a coating of rubber or the like 3 extending through holes in the metal band, means such as eyelets 6, Fig. 4, being provided to prevent creep between the coating and the band. The rubber passing through the holes in the metal band may form friction pads 4, which may have suction recesses 10 or through-holes 11. In modifications, the perforations have burred edges to replace the eyelets; several metal bands may be spaced apart in the rubber body ; the rubber may enclose the metal band completely or the edges of the band may be turned up and serrated to form a flexible edging for the belt. The ends of the metal band may be joined by a metal plate, through which the eyelets are passed before the rubber is applied. Or a pair of folded plates may be secured to the ends of the band, and form a hinge embedded in the rubber.
