Abstract
441,397. Garters; stockings. MYERS, M. H., 4, The Grove, Bowerham Road, Lancaster. July 20, 1934, No. 21284. [Class 141] Suspensory means for stockings or the like comprise an inner band B of rubber or other elastic material which is placed around the wearer's leg, and is provided with apertures b<4> Fig. 1, or cavities b<5>, Fig. 4, into which the flesh of the wearer is pressed by the pressure of the band, and an outer elastic band A superimposed on the band B with a portion of a stocking C gripped between the two bands. The inner band B is provided with beadings b<1>, b<2> at its upper and lower edges respectively, and in a modification, Fig. 3, a third beading b<3> is provided at the centre of the band B, the outer band in this case being composed of two extensible members A, A<1>, united by a flexible web A<2>. The band A may be woven integrally with the upper portion of the stocking. In a further modification, the inner band B is placed over the stocking, and the upper margin of the stocking. is folded down over the outer surface of the inner band B, the band A being then placed on the stocking over the band B.
