Abstract
110,741. Hammond, M. B. Nov. 1, 1916, [Conventon date]. Sock-suspenders.-To secure the ends of the elastic strands of a hose-supporting garter of the type in which the leg-encircling element is a permanently closed member, the meeting edges of the elastic webbing 1 are treated with adhesive 2 and, when the adhesive has partly dried, are covered on both sides with cloth strips 3, Fig. 4, which are secured bv rows of stitches 4. A non-elastic and rigid member 5, Fig. 5, preferably made of leather and cut in one piece, is folded round the webbing and strips 3, Fig. 4, and is secured by rows of stitches 6, 7 running parallel with the lateral edges of the member; these edges are inclined outwards so as to meet at obtuse angles. The member depends slightly below the webbing, and has secured to it the usual hose-engaging members 8, 9.
