Abstract

424,842. Conduit systems. SHAW, W. G. W., 15, Park Lane, Liverpool. Aug. 30, 1933, No. 24021. [Class 36] A connector for joining adjacent lengths of conduit of the kind consisting of a sheet metal trough having a removable cover, comprises a trough-shaped base formed with channelsectioned spigots which are adapted to fit in the conduit ends, the base being closed by a removable cover which is so formed that it provides a fourth side for each spigot. Fig. 1 shows a conduit system comprising conduits A connected together by tee connectors E, H, elbow connectors C, D, G, straight through connectors B, J and a four way connector F. The conduits A are of the section shown in Fig. 1A, and are closed by removable covers a<2> having straps a<3> which are adapted to be bolted to the conduits A. The tee connector E, as shown in Figs. 5 and 5A, comprises an open body portion e<1> having outlets in the form of three sided spigots 1 which are adapted to fit into the ends of the conduits A. The connector is closed by a removable cover e<2> having extensions e<4> to form the fourth side of the spigots 1, the cover being secured to the body e<1> by screws 3 which take into ribs e<3> formed on the body e<1>. The ribs e<3> also serve to align the spigots 1 accurately within the end of the conduit. The straight through connectors B, J, the four way connector F and elbows C, D are of similar construction, differing from the tee connector only in the number of outlets. The straight through connector J has its outlets of different sizes. The tee connector H and elbow G, Fig. 1, which are intended to accommodate cables bent to a large radius of curvature, comprise sheet metal body portions having removable covers and provided with outlets in the form of straight through connectors, as shown.
