Abstract

424,542. Feeding sheets. SPIESS, G., 78, Zschochersche Strasse, Leipsic, Germany. July 10, 1934, No. 20271. Convention date, July 10, 1933. [Class 100 (i)] In a sheet-feeding device of the kind in which the rear edges of the top sheet of a pile 1 are acted on by separating suction members 30, which are reciprocated vertically, and by other suction carrying members 18b which move to and from the top sheet and are also reciprocated horizontally so as to carry the separated sheet to forwarding rollers 3, 4, the members 30, 18<b> and their operating devices are carried by an adjustable bearing bracket 13 which can slide along a guide rod 7 so that simultaneous adjustment of the members 30, 18b can be effected. The cams 36<a>, 36b which control the movements of the suction members 30, 18<b> are mounted on a shaft 15 driven by helical gearing 14, 12, the gear 12 being splined to its driving- shaft 8 so that the drive is maintained in all positions of adjustment of the bracket 13. There are two suction carrying members 18b which are laterally adjustable for dealing with sheets of different widths. The bracket 13 also supports an air blast nozzle 27 and its associated parts. A lifting cam 19 acts in conjunction with the cam and lever mechanism which operates the carrying nozzles 18b to raise the nozzles from the pile on the forward motion of the nozzles.
