Abstract

424,207. Sliding seats. CHAPMAN, A. W., 115, Howards Lane, Putney, London. Aug. 17, 1933, No. 23026. [Class 52 (ii)] In sliding seats provided with an adjustable locating stop of the general type described in Specification 261,460, [Class 52 (ii)], for example, means are provided for adjusting and locating the stop upon or within a rail upon which it slides, the stop being releasable by a pivotal or push or pull movement, and the co-operating means for adjusting and locating the stop on the rail are such that if the stop is not locked it will, whether moved backwards or forwards on the rail, be automatically located and locked in one or other of a number of fixed positions. In the construction described, the seat is provided with a slide member 1 engaging a fixed rail 2 on the floor. The stop member 5 is formed with projections 6 sliding within the turned over edges of the rail 2, and carries a latch 9 having a hook 11 adapted to engage in any one of a number of apertures 4 in the rail 2. The hook is normally pressed downwardly by a spring, but can be lifted by pressure applied to a finger plate 10 to release the stop for adjustment along the rail 2. The catch 13 on the seat slide member 1 has hooks 14 adapted to engage under spring action with a projection 15 on the stop 5. Should the stop not be locked to the rail 2 when the catch 13 engages it, the stop is pushed along the rail until the latch drops into the next aperture 4, and is thereon locked to the rail. The stop may be mounted on the seat, and the catch upon the guide rail. Specification 405,954 also is referred to.
