Abstract

453,782. Sliding seats. CHAPMAN, A. W., 115, Howards Lane, Putney, London. March 19, 1935, No. 8577. [Class 52 (ii)] In a sliding seat construction in which the seat is carried on spaced tubular members 1, at least one of these members has secured to it a slide member 2, Fig. 1, co-operating with a floor slide member 10, and having a flange 4 shaped so as to conform to and embrace a part of the tubular member 1. Alternative forms of slide members are shown in Figs. 4 and 7. Inserts of felt, rubber or other material may be provided in the floor slides upon which the tubular members bear to prevent noise. Locking means comprising a spring-controlled lever 40, Fig. 10, engaging slots 44 in the flange of the floor slide. In a modification, a locking member a, Figs. 11 and 14 engages slots in the floor slide, and is actuated by a lever b pivoted to the tubular frame member d at b<1>. A pin c on the member a engages a hole in the inner end of the lever b. Specification 421,905 is referred to.
