Abstract

[Class 65 (i)] A door-check comprises a member with a number of cam surfaces arranged in succession peri. pherally and an assembly of radiallydisposed cylinders rotatable relatively to the said member, plungers being provided in the cylinders and pressed outwardly by springs to bear against the cam surfaces so that they are caused to slide in the cylinders when the two parts rotate relatively,fluid check ing means being alsc provided in connection with the cylinders. In the form shown, cylinders 4 are formed in a central member within an outer relatively rotatable member 1 having cam tracks 10 on its internal periphery. The members may be connected for rotation by the door by any suitable means, for example, as described in Specification 410,868. The cylinders contain plungers 7 with bearing balls 22 to engage the cam tracks, against which the plungers are pressed by springs 8. The inner ends of the cylinders communicate with a chamber 15 connected through a spring-pressed adjustable ball valve 18 and passages 12 with the chamber in member 1 containing the cylinders, which is filled with oil; on relative movement of the parts in one direction the cam tracks allow the plungers to move out of the cylinders, and the ball valve 18 allows oil to enter freely, but return movement causes the plungers to be pressed inwards, the flow of oil being then restricted by the valve, so that the movement is checked. In order to allow the use of a greater number of cylinders without restricting the angle of rotation of the parts, the member 1 may be provided with two sets of cam surfaces 10<a>, 10<b>, Fig. 4, and the inner member with correspondingly-placed plungers 7<a>, 7<b>.
