[Class 3 (i)] [See also Group XX] Optical-projection apparatus. -An optically-projected sign comprises a band perforated with the required wording &c. and passing through the projector gate to throw images on a lenticular screen, the irregularities of which give the effect of independent lamps lit in succession. The screen may be so disposed or shaped as to make the image vary in size as it traverses the screen, and may be angularly disposed to the light beam to effect this purpose, or, as shown in Fig. 3, may be a zig-zag shape. The screen may take the forms shown in Figs. 4, 5, or 7. Fig. 8 shows a screen 10 shaped as a megaphone carried by a figure 8, the image of the moving endless band 12 being reflected by a mirror arranged in an inclined position behind the screen. A pivoted light filter or a prism may be interposed intermittently in the light beam, being electrically controlled by contacts making through openings in the band.
