Abstract
360,977. Lens stops. ALDRIDGE, S. R., 2, Denman Street, Piccadilly Circus, London. Aug. 15, 1930, No. 24486. [Classes 97 (i) and 98 (i).] Relates to the production of relief effects by the use of a single lens in conjunction with stops forming decentred apertures, and consists in the provision and use of apertures which are variable both in size and configuration. In one construction two blades 10, 11, Fig. 3, with cut-out sectors 14 are pivotally mounted on either side of a central opaque strip 12, and adjusted by a pinion knob 9. In a modified construction two similar but semicircular blades are normally spring held in the fully open position and regularly adjusted by a conical separator. The fitting may be mounted on the lens by a clip. Alternatively superposed diaphragms such as illustrated in Fig. 5 may be axially separable or otherwise relatively adjustable. The diaphragm system may be used in cameras or projectors and the apertures associated with colour screens.
