[Class 44] A sliding latch-bolt for co-operation with a hasp on a trunk is shot by a spring which when moved transversely of the bolt by means of a key, co-operates with abutments on the lock plate, and the bolt or a part associated therewith to block the bolt. In one form, Figs. 1 and 2, a U-shaped spring has one leg 4 bearing against a bent-up lug 8, on the bolt 3, to shoot it and the other leg 5 which is bent to co-operate with a key, bearing at its end against a lug 9 on the lock plate 2. When the spring is moved upwards, the part 27 engages in front of a lug 28 on the lock plate to block the bolt. A nozzle 10 slides on the outside of the lock plate 2, and is connected to the bolt 3 by the usual tongues 12, 13. In another form, Fig. 6, the nozzle 33 is integral with the bolt 31, and a plate 36 housed within the nozzle has an upstanding lug 39 which abuts the front of the nozzle and serves as an abutment for one leg 40 of the spring, the free end of the other leg 41 bearing against a lug on the lock plate 30 which extends through a slot in the plate 36. The nozzle is held to the lock plate 30 by tongues 50 passed through slots and bent over. In a further form, Figs. 10 and 11, one leg 59 of the spring bears against the back of a recess 62 in the lock plate 61, and the other leg 60 bears at its free end against a down-turned lug 75 on the bolt 63, the main part of this leg being in alignment with a cut-away part 19 of the lug 75, to be engaged by a key. When the spring is moved to locking position, the part 77 thereof engages behind a lug 80 on the bolt. The key pin 73 is carried by an extension 69 of the lugs 75, 80. The nozzle 70 is integral with the bolt 63, and is held to the lock plate 61 by tongues 82, 83 passed through a slot 85 and bent over.
