[Class 20 (iv)] In apparatus for subjecting to tension the reinforcements of reinforced-concrete articles, the reinforcements 9 are guided in divergent curved gutters 12, the ends of which bear against the mould 1 and stretching devices 13 respectively, so that these devices can be easily disposed between the gutters. The reinforcing wires 9 are held at one end by gripping members 5, such as those described in Specification 393,576, [Group V], and are wound on reels 6 mounted on the frame 7. The wires 9 are gripped by the jaws 13 which are simultaneously displaced by hydraulic jacks 14 to tension the wires. Additional gripping members are then introduced through the holes 4 and the wires are cut off outside the mould. To facilitate cutting the wires, they may be heated by blowpipes at the point of severance through holes in the mould which are afterwards closed by plugs. The mould may comprise two parts of sheet metal, stiffened by ribs, and held together by straps.
