Abstract
422,390. Road-vehicle undercarriages. DYSON, J., and DYSON & CO., Ltd., R. A., 76, Grafton Street, Liverpool. May 11, 1934, No. 14225. [Class 108 (ii)] [See also Group XXXIV] A turntable for road vehicles, especially trailers, comprises a series of freely rolling non- pivotally mounted balls or rollers arranged between upper and lower rings or races and resiliently spaced apart so that the balls or rollers may be displaced relatively to one another. The rollers 3, lie in a channelsection ring 1 secured to the framework 2 and are spaced by helical springs 4 of square section which are curved to correspond to the ring 1 before tempering. The upper race, not shown, comprises a channel-section ring secured to the vehicle chassis and rests with a horizontal web on the tops of the rollers, a depending flange or flanges being fitted to this web to shroud the ring 1 and so prevent the entrance of dust &c. The rings are left in the " black " or unmachined condition. Rigid spacing elements with springs at each end may be used. Conical or barrel-shaped rollers may be employed.
