[Class 18] [See also Groups XIII, XVIII, and XXII] In detachable tongue-and-slot connections for pliable sheet material, marginal tongues made by cuts in the material are threaded once in the same direction through a closed slot or slit formed in a separate pliable connecting- member. For collapsable boxes, the tongues 27, 28, Fig. 6, may be edge to edge and be connected by a member 40 formed into a loop or by a member 32, Fig. 3, slit at 34 and bent at 33. The tongues may lie face to face and the member may consist of an extension to the hinged lid. The tongues may be formed on the abutting edges of parts 70, 75, Fig. 13, or on overlapping parts 75, 94 and the connecting- member may be a flat piece 95 or an angular piece 89 and may have an external fold 97, Fig. 17, or consist of a loop of wire 110, Fig. 20, or a toothed plate 112, Fig. 21, with pips 122 snapping into holes in the material. For a show card, Fig. 7, tongues 52 are connected by a member consisting of stitched strips 49, 50. For a wall covering, the tongues 52 have lugs 57 engaging slots in a cover 56 and bent over, the interior being left hollow or packed with insulating-materials for the prevention of noise. The pliable material may consist of sheet metal, celluloid, or cardboard and the like. The tongues may have sloped or notched ends and may be slotted to facilitate insertion.
