Abstract
420,771. Heating by electricity WOLNIEWICZ, E., 3, Przejazd Street, and SIERZPUTOWSKI, A. E., 16, Widok Street, both in Warsaw. Dec. 8, 1933, No. 34594. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, June 11, 1934.] [Class 39 (iii)] [See also Groups XIII and XXXVI] A thermostatically - controlled electric heater suitable for maintaining constant the cold junctions of thermocouples or standard resistances, comprises a vessel a of glass or metal with a capillary tube b charged with mercury, the space above the mercury being evacuated or filled with any desired gas. Pockets c are provided for the objects to be kept at a constant temperature and an electric heater s is immersed in the mercury. A contact d is provided at a desired point in the stem b and is connected in a circuit II, Fig. 3, another circuit I with a separate source of supply being connected as shown. When circuit II is complete, current ceases to flow in the heater s. A modification is described for use with alternating current, in which alternative contacts in the stem b are provided.
