Abstract

395,756. Electrically-heated vessels. PIPER, T. W., Hillbury, Redbourn, St. Albans, Hertfordshire. Jan. 23, 1932,'No. 2089. [Class 39 (iii).] A receptacle 6 is equipped with internal heaters controlled by a multiposition switch so arranged that coarse control of the supplied power is provided to raise the liquid in temperture and fine control over a plurality of positions is provided to enable a predetermined temperature or rate of boiling to be maintained. This may be achieved by providing the switch with coarse steps for higher values of applied power and fine steps for the lower, or, as shown, a bimetallic strip 3 may operate the contact 8 to change the circuits of the switch to give a fine control at the desired temperature. The electrical connections may be made by a plug and socket at the end of the handle 11 of the receptacle or the pan may be placed in a depression on top of an electric stove and contact made in the manner of a bayonet joint by twisting.
