420,239. Grinding and polishing. TOLLWORTHY, W. E., 84, Wellington Road, Edgbaston, and MURRAY, L. F., 26, Boden Road, Hall Green, both in Birmingham. June 6, 1933, No. 16105. [Classes 19 and 60] A block for supporting a sheet of abrasive or other material, for grinding, polishing &c. consists of two parts 1, 2 hinged together at 3, the part 1 carrying two spikes 4 and the part 2 having therein two holes 5 to receive the spikes. Secured to the part 1 is a strip 6 of fabric perforated at 7 to pass over the spikes, and in order to secure the abrasive &c. sheet 8, one end of this is placed over the spikes and under the strip 6, the sheet then being led round the parts 1, 2 as shown, and these parts being closed together, whereby the sheet is tensioned and the parts and the sheet secured together by the entry of the spikes into the holes ; the strip 6 is led around one or other side of the block to form a protective covering for the hand. In a modification, the block comprises two parts made of rubber hinged together by an extension of the strip 6.
