Abstract

[Class 70] [See also Group VIII] In producing up holstery pads &c. fibres are caused to pass under gravity or by blowing o: suction through an atmosphere charged with atomized particles of rubber in ad hesive condition Fibres contained in a hopper 1 fall through perforations 4 in a reciprocating screen 2, are coated with rubber latex from one or more atomizers 6, and arrange themselves in a loose mass on a band 7 having a continuous, intermittent, or reciprocating movement. The latex may be atomized in a separate chamber and drawn into chamber 5 by a fan. The chamber 5 may be formed with a roof having a restricted opening above which the screen 2 reciprocates. Short fibres about ¢ inch long such as cotton dust or hair waste from carding machines are specified.
