[Class 100 (ii)] A wire gauze stencil for printing on fabrics by the screen-printing method is manufactured by forming a photographic positive on the gauze, coating the gauze with a metallic paste adapted to fill up the meshes of the remaining parts, removing the insoluble gelatine to expose the parts of the gauze forming the positive, and finally strengthening the filled-up reserve parts by electroplating one or both sides of the gauze. The metallic paste may consist of finely powdered metal such as aluminium or copper suspended in a vehicle having a cellulose base. When electro-plating the wire gauze, which is stretched in the usual frame, the plating may be extended up to the inside edge of the frame so as to form a joint adapted to prevent the dye from infiltrating between the gauze and the frame.
