419,193. Ships' propelling-mechanism. WILLIAMS, J. R., Wellfield Place, Rochdale. March 7, 1934, No. 7229. [Class 114.] A propeller A is driven by bevels a<2>, a<3> from a vertical shaft a<1> which has a foot step bearing in a casing C which itself has a foot step bearing c<1> in the keel and at its upper end passes through a stuffing box b<1> in the counter B<1>. The casing C has a gearing C<1> whereby the propeller may be swung for reversal or for steering of the boat.
