Abstract

471,718. Oars. FRASER, F. W. Jan. 28, 1937, No. 2495. [Class 114] An oar is provided with an adjustable oar-lock sleeve constituted by a flanged tubular member formed of rubber, leather or other non- metallic material, and split, and an open metal ring is embedded in the flange. The sleeve 10 has a flange 12, is slit along the line 11, and contains aT-sectioned metal ring 14 with upstanding flanges 15, 16 which have a slit 13. When in position on the oar the sleeve is secured by a screw 17. In a modification, the metal ring instead of being circular in form is provided with bulges 23 and the sleeve and its flange may also have two slits 13, 24 with two sets of securing screws 17, 31. The sleeve portion is also adapted to be secured by screws directly to the oar.
