Abstract

418,758. Endless chain conveyers. LARMUTH, J. H., Hill Crest, Upper Colwyn Bay, North Wales. May 31, 1933, No. 15662. [Class 78 (i).] In a conveyer provided with cages or baskets for carrying bottles, jars, &c. the cages &c. are mounted on a single pivotal link chain with their closed bottoms in a plane at right angles to the chain pivots. In one form the closed bottom 11, Fig. 1, of a metal basket 12 rests on an outer upper link 1 and is provided with spigot pins 9 which engage the hollow pivots 5. Each outer lower link 2 has two lugs 7 between which a roller 10 is mounted to support the conveyer. In a modification the outer upper link forms the bottom of the basket. In another form the bottles are carried horizontally in baskets 19, Fig. 6, the bottoms 21 of which are secured in a vertical position by riveting to the chain pivots 20. The open end of each basket is provided with an arm 23 which is pivoted at 25 to a lug on the basket and carries a roller 26 running on a rail 27. At the loading &c. point the rail 27 is interrupted and the arm 23 swings out of the way of the bottles. In a modification the roller 26 is mounted on a fixed cross-piece.
