Abstract

418,193. Exciting dynamos. SUNDER. LAND FORGE & ENGINEERING CO., Ltd., and DAVISON, J. W., St. Luke's Road, Pallion, Sunderland. June 15, 1934, No. 17769. [Class 35.] A shunt wound dynamo with divided poles has additional coils connected between a main and an auxiliary brush and opposing series coils disposed on the halves of the poles which are weakened by armature reaction. In the form shown, the north pole e pieces 5, 6 and the south pole-pieces 7, 8 carry coils 15 connected between the auxiliary brush 4 and the main brush 2 in addition to the shunt coils 12 while the pole-pieces 6, 8 which are weakened by armature reaction have series coils 16 which oppose the coils 12, 15. A cumulative series winding may be placed on the pole-pieces 5, 7 and the commutating poles 9, 10 may be omitted.
