Abstract

417,973. Lathes. HERBERT, SIR A., LLOYD, A. H., and LEONARD, C., c/o Herbert, Ltd., A., Canal Road, Edgwick, Coventry. Nov. 7, 1933, No. 30916. [Class 83 (iii).] A turret lathe or like machine tool, the turret slide 19 carries a guard 22 adapted to overlie and to protect against chips &c. the ways 17, 18 of the lower slide or saddle 15 on which the turret slide is supported. The guard 22 is arranged so that it does not hinder the approach of the turret slide to the cross slide 12 which is also provided with covers 14 for the main guide rails 13 of the lathe bed. The cross slide may be provided with a stop bar 23 which is protected by a guard 24. The turret slideways are preferably lubricated in the manner described in Specification 417,972, [Group XXXIV].
