Abstract
417,945. Boxes &c. DAUS, H., 26, Bluff Street, Upper Hawthorn, Victoria, Australia. April 18, 1933, No. 11334. [Class 18.] A bonded case comprising side, end and base members made of timber and united together by angular metal assembling bands extending along the end corner edges of the case and overlapping the timber members is characterized in that the bands each have integral teeth at space intervals along both edges to be forced into the timber members and an apical reinforcing channel overlying and accommodating the edges of the case. As shown the angular band 5, having a curved apical channel 10, is continuous along the two sides and bottom of the end 2 and, to hold on the lid 4, is secured to another band 12 by folding down tongues 14, 15 extending from the bands 5, 12 respectively. The teeth 8 of the band 5 extend at right angles to the faces of the flanges 6 and 7 and obliquely to the edges. The band 5 may be in three parts, two connecting the end to the sides 1 and the other connecting the end to the base. The band 12 has one plain flange 13 making resilient contact with the end. Flat, toothed binding-strips 20, having their ends folded together, may be disposed about the periphery of the case. A transverse partition 17 is secured in position by an angular strip 18 having oblique teeth extending outwardly from its flanges.
