[Class 78 (ii).] Electric plant.-A lift system with pushbutton control is so designed that by pressing one of a series of buttons at a floor, the cage is brought to the floor, and after the caller has entered it, travels to the desired destination without further action on the part of the caller. Although no buttons are provided on the cage, it may have a switch for initiating movement in the up and down directions in case of emergency. A number of floor magnets is provided at each floor corresponding to the number of the floors to be served which register the calls for the various floors, but transmit them to the corresponding magnets of the destination floors only after the call to the station of a waiting passenger has been executed. If the cage is at a floor and a button is pressed there, this call is registered at once, but the cage begins its travel only after the well door has been opened and shut. If the cage is stationary at a floor and a call is made at another floor, it commences its travel immediately.
