Abstract

896,857. Lift-control circuits. OTIS ELEVATOR CO. May 2, 1960, No. 15404/60. Drawings to Specification. Class 78 (3). A lift car provided with two or more superimposed compartments is operated by a control system which normally brings the compartments to selected floors in response to calls from the landings and compartments, in the order of floors in the direction of movement of the car, but which in the event of calls being registered for a pair of adjacent floors, answers both calls with one stop of the car with a compartment adjacent each of the pair of floors. The Specification describes in detail a control circuit for a system for two compartment cars which, under conditions where no calls are registered for adjacent floors, can operate either with one compartment answering all calls or with one compartment ansering all " up " calls and the other compartment answering all " down " calls. In another arrangement the compartments answer calls from odd and even numbered floors respectively. One car may be assigned to provide an express service for a predetermined zone of floors. Normally, the cars reverse after answering the highest call, with the upper compartment, but should this call be for the lower compartment the call is answered thereby. Load responsive means are provided to cause a fullyloaded compartment to by-pass landing calls which are then attended to by the other compartment of the car if that is not also fully loaded. Specification 711,515 is referred to.
