Abstract

982,260. Lift control systems. J. E. MAGEE. May 7, 1962 [May 12, 1961], No. 17392/62. Drawings to Specification. Heading B8L. A control system for a lift car operating in a down peak traffic condition is provided with means for detecting and memorizing the existence of one or more registered down landing calls which have been by-passed by the descending car or which have been unanswered for more than a predetermined length of time, and with means for dispatching a car from the dispatching floor to the floor most remote from the dispatching floor having such a registered down landing call. In the described embodiment, in a control system for at least three lift cars, means are provided for each car for detecting when each registered down landing call is by-passed by that car and the calls for each landing are memorized on a group basis. A predetermined number of such remembered by-passed calls causes transfer of a car to down-peak operation wherein it is dispatched to the highest such call. Persistence of remembered by-passed calls for a predetermined period or the existence of greater predetermined number of by-passed calls causes a similar transfer of a second car. These two cars then reverse their upward travel at progressively lower remembered by-passed landing calls until all such calls have been answered. The third car continues to respond to upper floor demand on its original basis, but its bypass call detection circuit is inoperative during transferred operation of either of the other cars. A car by-passes up landing calls during its ascent when it is subject to transfer assignment. Specifications 894,755 is referred to.
