416,402. Sewing - machines. FAIRWEATHER, W. C., 65, Chancery Lane, London. - (Singer Manufacturing Co. ; Elizabeth, New Jersey, U.S.A.) May 9, 1934, No. 13978. [Class 112.] A presser-foot has a rigid sole portion 12 carried by a shank 1 and an upturned toe at the front end. A second sole portion 15 is hinged for movement about an axis extending from front to rear, to the rigid sole portion, and is adjustable to different angular positions relative to the rigid sole portion. The shank 1 has arms 9, 10. The rigid sole portion 12 is attached to the arm 9 by screws 11. The hinged portion 15 has needle apertures 16 and a block 17 which receives the arm 10. The other end of the part 15 has a block 18 which fits between blocks 13, 14 on the rigid sole 12 and is pivoted to these by a hinge pin 19 held in place by a set screw 20. The hinged portion 15 is adjusted into desired position by a screw 24 which has a notched head fitting in recess 23 in a plate 22 secured to the block 17 by screws 21. The adjustment of the part 15 is necessary for instance when sewing binding to blankets to prevent " crawling " of the binding.
