Abstract
414,384. Door checks. WEBBERLEY, D. J., 33, Downlands Road, Purley, Surrey. Feb. 1, 1933, No. 3154. [Class 65 (i).] A check of any suitable form for doors opening in one or either direction is placed in a shoe fixed on the heel of the door, and is not associated therein with any closing or other mechanism. A fluid check is shown, the cylinder 4 being formed integrally with the shoe and the piston being connected to a disc crank 8 which has a suitable bearing in the shoe; the crank is prevented from rotating by an arm 9 fixed to it and to the floor and passing through a partcircular slot in the base of the shoe. The door is shown mounted on the pivot pin 11 of a floor spring mechanism, by a boss 10 non- rotatably engaging the pin and having a bearing in the shoe ; the boss 10 has an arm 2 engaging with a screw 3 in the shoe to allow adjustment of the closed position of the door but otherwise preventing relative movement of door and boss. In a modification, the check is totally enclosed except for the end of the crankshaft projecting above it, and the arm 9 is correspondingly shaped to engage the shaft end, or may project through the back of the shoe and be fixed to the door post. In a further modification, for doors opening in one direction only about an axis offset from the check crankshaft, the latter is connected to the door pivot pin, which is fixed, by spur gears.
