Abstract

414,062. Reflectors. STEVENSON, C. A., Radella, Fidra Road, North Berwick, and STEVENSON, D. A., 22, Gleneairn Crescent, Edinburgh. Jan. 25, 1933, No. 2373. [Class 75 (ii).] Reflectors for light projectors, comprising glass backed by a reflecting substance, have non-spherical surfaces which deviate from parabolas to such an extent that, as determined by the angle of incidence of the light rays and by the refractive index and thickness of the glass, accurate focusing or parallelizing of the reflected rays is effected, and the thickness of the glass is uniform throughout. The Figure shows a part of a reflector having surface A' B<1> and C<1> D<1> which deviate from parabolic surfaces AB, CD to such an extent that a ray from the focus F emerges, after refraction and reflection, along a line G<1> H parallel to the axis, instead of in a direction GL which is not parallel to the axis.
