Abstract
413,539. Vacuum-cleaners. ELECTROLUX, Ltd., 153, Regent Street London.- (Assignees of Inventia Patent-Verwertungs- Ges. ; 10, Herrenacker, Schaffhausen, Switzerland.) Oct. 26, 1933, No. 29755. Convention date, Dec. 7, 1932. [Class 8 (i).] In a vacuum-cleaner the motor 15 is provided at its rear end with a cover 17 to the centre of which is secured a threaded bolt 20. The removable end cap 12 contains a filter 18 positioned between the cover 17 and the outflow opening 14 which is provided with bars 19. The end cap 12 is secured on the cleaner with its front edge engaging a rubber packing ring 121 by means of a nut 21 engaging the bolt 20 and rotatably mounted in the bars 19, being held therein by a collar 22 and abutment 23. The filter 18 comprises an annular frame 24 around which are stretched cloths 25, the inner edges of which are held against an annular disc 27 of paper, fibre &c. by a metal clamping bush 28. Passage of air through the opening 26 in the bush is prevented by a rubber packing member 29 carried by an annular groove on the bolt 20. An apertured member 32 for supporting the filter is mounted on the bars 19. In a modification, the nut is rigidly mounted on the motor cover 17 and the threaded bolt rotatably but non-removably mounted in the centre bars of the cap 12. In a further modification, Fig. 6, a bolt 36 having at its inner end a transverse pin 38, is mounted for rotation and axial displacement in a guide 39 carried by the centre bar 19, the bolt being pressed outwardly by a spring 41. The motor cover 17 carries a plate 43 formed with a slot 44, Fig. 7, through which the pin 38 is passed, the bolt being then rotated so as to secure the end cap in position. A packing member 45 is carried by the plate 43. The locking device may be constructed as a resilient snap locking bolt such as is described in Specification 281,309, [Class 19], in this case, a headed stud is mounted on the centre bar 19 and co-operates with a spring clip mounted on the motor cover 17.
