[Class 78 (i).] In apparatus for raising coal from a mine floor and delivering it to a conveyer of the kind comprising sets of inclined serrated bars 1, 2 mounted independently in a trough-shaped frame 3 and moved in orbital paths by rotating eccentrics 1<a>, 2a, cranks, cams, &c., the forward edges of the bars are so tapered as to form shovels adapted to pass below the coal to be raised.
