Abstract
411,667. Filters. HUTTON, G. H., 55, Moorgate, London. May 4, 1933, No. 13070. [Class 46.] A mining or other dredge 10 has one or more rotatable tubular strainers 16 mounted on the side, the interior of the strainer being in communication with the inlet to a pump 11 which is mounted on the dredge, in order to utilize the water at the dredging site in the plant for washing or other purposes. As shown two cylindrical strainers 16 may be mounted on the side of the dredge with a portion of their circumferences above the water level and communicating each at one end with a sump 13 into which a suction pipe 12 connected to the pump extends. The sump 13 may be perforated. The strainers may be rotated by hand or mechanical means. A number of angle irons 32 constituting fins may be provided around each strainer to assist in collecting solid material in the water and conveying it to the upper side of the strainer where it may be removed. A device, e.g., an adjustable water spraying device 33 or a brush or scraper, may be provided for cleaning the part of the strainer above the water. According to the Provisional Specification the strainer is not necessarily mounted on a dredge.
