[Class 36.] A device for taking up slack in a flexible lead 10 connected to an electric iron comprises a spring coil 1, through which the lead passes, attached at one end to a member 2 which pivots on an upright 4 carried by a table clamp 5, the other end of the coil either being secured to the lead adjacent the iron or being connected by a double clamp 12 to the plug 15 on the end of the lead adjacent the iron. The lead enters the member 2 by a flared hole 9 in which is mounted a guide roller 6. The double clamp 12 may be reinforced by a removable rod 17.
