410,934. Motor vehicles; steering- gear; spring suspensions. DEWANDRE, A., 2, Rue du Vieux-Mayeur, Liege, Belgium, and LIENHARD, G. M., 6, Rue Leon Vaudoyer, Paris. Feb. 28, 1933, No. 6164. Convention date, Feb. 29, 1932. [Classes 79 (ii) and 79 (v).] In steering gear for independently sprung front wheels having stub axles with lower arms 18 pivoted to the ends of a transverse spring 12 and upper arms 19 pivoted at the ends of oblique links 22, 23, pivoted at 24, 25 to the chassis frame, the stub axle steering arms 26 are each controlled by a rod 27 pivoted to a branch of a forked lever 28, the rods 27 being each equal in length to the effective length of each half of the suspension spring, so that flexure of the spring does not affect the steering. The lever 28 has an arm 30 connected by a link to the usual steering lever or drop arm. The lower stub-axle arm 18 can swivel round a pin 17 fixed to a socket 16 having a bracket 15 connected by a pin 14 to the end of the spring 12. The steering wheels are driven by cardan shafts 9 from a differential gear 7 mounted on a transverse frame member 6 to which the spring 12 is bolted. Universal joints 8 and double joints 11 are provided at the ends of the shafts 9.
