410,075. Making boxes. UNIVERSELLE CIGARETTENMASCHINEN-FABRIK J. C. MULLER & CO., 48, Zwickauerstrasse, Dresden, Germany. Aug. 2, 1932, No. 21665. Void [Abridged as open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Aug. 4, 1932]. [Class 18.] Drawer-and-shell boxes having shells with the bottom end closed are made by forming the drawer on a core or former and then forming the shell over the drawer on the core or former ; the core moves in a straight path and the two blanks are fed thereto and folded in succession in a shaping channel. The cores may be arranged on an endless chain and the blanks for the drawers may be fed thereto with one of the end walls already folded to the vertical position. As shown the drawer blanks B are fed alternately from two magazines 4, one disposed at each side of the chains 7 carrying the cores 5, the end B<1> of each blank being folded up vertically by members 14. The blank is carried through folding devices 16, which turn up the sides thereof, and against the shell blank A severed by knives 18 from a web and fed downwards by rollers 20. The core with the folded drawer thereon carries the shell blank A through folding members 22 which fold the latter into a block-ended shell upon the drawer. The drawer-and-shell are finally removed from the core and the drawer filled.
