Abstract

314,377. Universelle Cigarettenmaschinen-Fabrik J. C. M³ller & Co. June 26, 1928, [Convention date]. Paper bags, making.- In apparatus for forming block bottom paper bags by bending a blank to U- shape on a former which enters a shaping channel, the shaping channel 2 is provided with freely rotatable rollers 4, 5 formed with wedgeshaped grooves 3 and adapted to roll along the moving former 1 to form the first side folds, notches 12 being provided in the flanges of the rollers to permit the bottom of the former to enter into the grooves. Springs 17 hold the rollers in the inoperative position until the front portion of the incoming blank rotates them by striking projections 13 thereon. Adjacent the notches 12, inclined tongues are provided to initiate the folding of the side walls. Stationary folders 6, 7 make the bottom and remaining side folds.
