Abstract
409,999. Preparing and agglomerating fuel. JAEGENDORF, S., 1, Oetzeltgasse, Vienna. Oct. 2, 1933, No. 27075. Convention date, Oct. 6, 1932. [Class 50.] In the manufacture of charcoal briquettes from comminuted wood charcoal and wood tar, the mixture is kneaded until its elasticity is substantially destroyed and then compressed into blocks. The charcoal may be of uniform grain size or of different grain sizes, e.g. 60 parts under 0.4 mm. and 40 parts between 0.4 and 1 mm. The coarser particles may be hardened before admixture, and the binding agent may be in part replaced by frictionreducing substances. The mixture may be briquetted under pressures of over 400 atmospheres and if desired, baked at temperatures of 200-600‹ C. The mixtures comprise 17-30 parts of tar to 100 parts of charcoal.
