Abstract
409,430. Oil switches. DAVIES, D. R., 14, Ruabon Road, Didsbury, near Manchester, and ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London. Nov. 21, 1932, No. 32888. [Class 38 (v).] An oil-immersed transformer 1 is structurally combined with an oil-break switch supported on a member 5 on the cover of the transformer tank and having its fixed contacts 7 mounted on the bushings 10 which carry the corresponding leads for each phase through the walls separating the transformer oil from the switch oil. The fixed contacts 7 may be surrounded by arcing chambers 25 as described in Specification 369,235, and may be arranged in separate tanks for each phase or in a common tank. The moving contacts 11 are carried by a common operating bar actuated by a rod 17 extending to opera ting gear in a box 18 These contacts pass through eyes 19 a the lower ends o the high tension terminals 20, two of which pass ou through opposite sides of the tank and the third out through the from thereof. The con nection between the contacts 11 and the terminals 20 may be improved by flexible conductors. The movable contacts 11 may be replaced by fuses. Curren transformers 22 may be associated witl the bushings 10 within the member 5. The usual acces sories such as breather 23 and expansion tank 24 may be mounted on the cover of the transformer tank.
