Abstract
407,776. Filters. MANOR ENGINEERING CO., Ltd., Manor Street, Fenton, and MALKIN, E. W., 3, Kings Avenue, Wolstanton, both in Stoke-on-Trent. Nov. 10, 1932, No. 31730. [Class 46.] Pressure is applied to the movable end-plate of a filter-press by means of an hydraulic ram arranged to co-operate with a thrust plate carried by the tie-rods. As shown in Fig. 1, the tie rods e have bifurcated ends, which pass through a movable end-plate d, and a thrust plate h is fixed on the ends of each tie-rod by nuts i. An hydraulic ram j is arranged between each plate h and the plate d. The other endplate c of the press may be either fixed or movable. In an alternative arrangement shown in Fig. 3, a single thrust plate h<1> is carried on the tie-rods e and a ram j is arranged on the axis of the press. The pump or pumps may be operated manually or by power with provision for applying variable speed or pressure to the ram or rams. Specification 393,625 is referred to.
