407,456. Structural metal joints. MACBRIDE, R. W., Rossarden, Glengarnock, Ayrshire. Nov. 14, 1932, No. 32110. [Class 20 (ii).] Rolled section - irons are provided with channel-section end members having grooves and projections to interfit when the irons are abutted end to end, so that a joint is obtained without perforation of the webs of the section-irons. The channel-shaped head portions C are either shrunk on to the ends of the section-bars or welded thereto, and the ribbed surfaces F are maintained looked by bolts H passing through the heads. In a modification, Fig. 7, the ends are maintained in contact by a transverse bolt N and end clips M which engage the webs of the channel-section end plates on each side of the joint.
