Abstract
<PICT:0407374/III/1> Ammoniacal and similar effluent liquors are concentrated by spraying them into contact with a heated absorbent material, e.g. coke, whereby part of the liquor is evaporated while the residues are absorbed in the coke and may be used as fuel. The preheated liquor is sprayed through perforated pipes H, I into a chamber A, heated by waste gases passing through channels E and a coil G, the distribution being aided by fans rotated by the sprayed liquor. The coke is distributed on the floor of the chamber by bogies M or by overhead carriages.
