Abstract
406,519. Brushes. ROBERTSON, C. P., Mount Pleasant Works, Muston Road, Upper Clapton, London. May 17, 1933, Nos. 14284 and 16612. [Class 19.] Liquid is supplied from a reservoir to the midst of bristles or the like filling set in a handle by a plunger pump comprising a cylinder and piston. The reservoir may, as shown at 18, in a gent's hair brush be readily removable from a box-like brush back 10 of moulded material, the cover 11 of which carries bristles 12. The reservoir is shaped to house a cylinder 21 which carries a hollow piston rod 29 leading to a discharge nozzle 31 carried thereon. A rod 33 screwed to the nozzle 31 may be actuated by a push button 35 which projects beyond the brush back 10. The connection between the button 35 and the rod 33 is such that when the pump is not required the button may be housed in the handle. A filling cap 19 in the reservoir 18 may be provided with an air inlet valve and the reservoir 18 is connected with the pump cylinder 21 which is inserted in an opening in the reservoir by a pipe 22. The brush back 10 and cover 11 are held together by a screw 15. The piston of the plunger pump may in other kinds of brushes be actuated by a bell crank lever or toggle or other similar form of mechanism for producing the required reciprocatory movement.
