Abstract

406,209. Chucks. KUPKE, F. W., (trading as KUPKE WERKZEUGFABRIK, F. W.), 21, Fr÷belstrasse, Gera, Germany. Aug. 9, 1933, No. 22285. Convention date, Aug. 25, 1932. [Class 83 (iii).] In a bevel-closing chuck an internally coned closing sleeve has a screw thread formed in the interior thereof and interrupting the conical surface approximately at the middle. As applied to a hand operated chuck, the bevelled sleeve a, Fig. 1, has a conical surface b cooperating with the jaws h and an internal screw thread c bv which the sleeve is attached to the end of the chuck body e. The jaws h are moved axially in the sleeve a by means of a ring v screwing within an internally threaded sleeve u which may be rotated by hand. The jaws slide through bevelled recesses g in the body e and the axial thrust is taken by a ball bearing w. As applied to a self-tightening chuck the jaws h, Fig. 2, are radially movable in a ring n held in the body o by means of a spring ring r and the closing sleeve m is elongated to be guided on the body and is attached by the internal screw thread c to a carrier e which screws axially within the body o. A ball bearing q takes the axial thrust on the ring n.
